Underage driving, is definitely developing well at Lleweni Parc Denbigh!
AutotutorsYDS had a great day last Monday teaching early drivers the skills and education that are needed to start developing a positive path of attitude to driving. Under 17’s can learn so much as they are not under pressure of a pending test.
The benefit of starting them on the road (not public road!) at this young age is that they have less preconceived ideas about driving and what the benefits are to them……for example they are not within peer groups wanting the freedom that a driving licence brings.
It is easy for me to see how much they enjoy it and I take pleasure knowing that they are being instilled with a good balance of skill and information. The information that they take on board is all about helping them assess risk more effectively. So far so good.
I attended an annual conference for driving instructors in Bristol today, the main item on the agenda is the development and assessment of instructors.
Parents – to date the traditional assessment and grading system has created a somewhat cloudy product – and it would seem that many parents aren’t even aware that driving instructors are graded…..anyway, good news is that there will be a much more transparent and positive system going forwards.
Watch this space for updates.

Thank you very much Tim and Alan for educating my children this morning they had a fantastic time and have been telling us what they have learnt today. Karen. March 2014
I’ve just taken 3 young people to this driving experience this morning and it was fantastic. I really wished I’d had the opportunity to do this when I was their age. They have all come away enthused and have learned so much in such a short space if time. Tim and Mel are patient, experienced instructors who managed to mix theory and driving to deliver first class training. I really hope this venture is successful as it will benefit all who attend. Good Luck ! Sally February 2014
Tesni had the most amazing time this morning. Such a valuable opportunity, not only to get behind the wheel but also to go through some of the theory. I would like to wish you every success in the future and I look forward to the next set of sessions, as we will be back! Sarah. February 2014
17-24 year olds are at almost twice the risk of being killed in road accidents as other drivers. Road accidents account for one in every four deaths of teenagers aged 15 – 19 in Britain and a third of people killed on the roads is under 25.
The young driver debate has been growing within the industry and government. The British government have been developing the ‘green paper’ . Currently parliament have ‘stalled’ their decision making on this issue, meaning that we will not see any changes.
Graduated driver licensing was a potential part of the development. In our opinion, the licence is not the problem, the method of acquiring the licence and the time spent under professional supervision compared to the non supervision time – often 53 years…..is the problem.
Graduated driver learning is a system whereby driver development (knowledge and practical skill) starts from an earlier pre-test stage and continues beyond the actual test, Autotutors Young Driving School provides this system.
The feedback we have gained from parents and young drivers on our programme confirms that we provide an invaluable solution. Contact us to discuss in more detail or go to calender and booking to get started.
